Nike pays homage to the Japanese star festival Tanabata with this pair of Air Max 1s. The festival celebrates the coming together of the two lovers, Orihime and Hikoboshi, who are separated by the milky way and are only allowed to meet once a year, on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. The influences can be seen on the kicks through the usage of stars on the side panels, as well as the glittery Tanabata tongue tag. Patent leather lovers will surely want to check these joints out.

Afro Samurai Comes Back

Over at San Diago Comic Cons 2008, FUNimation has announced to the world that there will be a squeal to American and Japanese conjuncture Afro Samurai. Samuel L. Jackson will be providing his voice for both Afro and Ninja Ninja once again; but that’s not all, Lucy Liu and Mark Hamill will also star in this anime as well.

According to Jackson, this sequel is “buck wild!”, or at least more buck wild than the original show; because the original was pretty damn buck wild in itself, so this one has to be on another level of buck wild that the world has never seen before. All we know about the story so far is about an unknown group who constructs an army of zombies, which enlists Afro’s father as one of hits members.

Obama To Appear At Lollapalooza ?

Obama has left a schedule slot open during the first weekend in August, which happens to be the same weekend Lollapalooza descends on his hometown. Citing unnamed “multiple sources familiar with the ongoing planning and logistics” for the candidate, the site claimed that Obama is planning an appearance at the festival, which takes place from August 1-3.

E-mail requests for comment on the report from the festival and Obama’s spokespeople were not returned at press time. Obama’s national campaign headquarters are located less than a mile from the festival site in the lakefront Grant Park and, according to the report, Obama would make a “brief appearance onstage to introduce one of the headlining acts that share his hometown.”

Among the potential acts he could introduce are Kanye West and Wilco, both of whom are headlining the event and who have spoken out — and in Wilco’s case, performed — in support of the candidate. Obama met with West (and Jay-Z) earlier this year to ask for their support and unconfirmed reports earlier this week in the Washington Post claimed that West was to perform at an event during the Democratic National Convention in August in Denver. The story also said N.E.R.D. and Wyclef Jean were “likely” to perform in Denver for Obama, though their spokespeople did not return calls for comment.

Introduced is the newest member of the Tsui elite, which oddly enough is not an Ape as used regularly and in his Da Warrior series. Complete with armor and a mace, tribal printing, transparent claws and a blinged out gem bracelet, this fierce wolf features all the necessary elements to provide vinyl immortality. As usual, Da Fighter is a very limited release, rumored to only 150 pieces produced, and for now available in this white/black/red colorway, as various other colors are sure to follow in the near future. Mastermind Japan Guerilla Store

Japanese designer Yuichi Yoshii is already an architectural giant in his field for meshing avant-garde styling with punk rock sensibilities in creating buildings that are described as masterpieces. After several years of being the creative director for Loveless, Yoshii now adds another notch to his belt by venturing into new territory with his project called The Contemporary Fix. The first structure to be a part of the Contemporary Fix series will be the Mastermind Japan store. To undertake this project Yoshii took apart his famous Aoyama restaurant leaving only the foundation. He then added different metal beams and rods from construction sites to give the store a raw punk rock edge. The exterior is emblazoned with Mastermind’s signature skull and cross bone logo. The flagship store stands as a piece of structural art as well as a functional retail space.

Once his current string of performances is behind him, Jay is hoping to lock in on the production of his next album. "Well, after the tour, I'm going back home and we'll look at it and see if I can start a project this year," he said. "I would love to do it, to be honest with you. It would be a great thing to do when I come home from tour, but it's vibe. I can't say, 'On this date this is going to happen.' If I get home and the vibe is right, it'll happen. If not, then top of next year."

Although Jay has been rumored to have already started recording (producer Swizz Beatz told MTV News a few weeks ago he gave Hov some incredible tracks), the Brooklyn King stressed that he hasn't officially gone in on an album. He does seem to have everything already mapped out however. "I can't give you the concepts or themes, but I've got a very clear direction of where I want to go with this one, and we'll see how it works."
